The food destination of the future is already here. Garveriet in Floda is an inspiring meeting place where knowledge and curiosity about innovative, sustainable and local, small-scale food production are boosted.

At Garveriet, we make it simple to enjoy great food without compromising on sustainability.

We are convinced that food and meetings belong together. When people meet over a snack or a meal, sharing experiences and exchanging ideas, it can lead to amazing discoveries and insights.

LEARN – Curiosity is the key to knowledge.

We don’t claim to have all the answers but we are truly committed to asking the questions and learn more about how we should act in order to make sure that we hand over a healthy earth with clean water to future generations.

We love food. Genuine food.

We collect our ingredients from nature’s own pantry and buy from farmers that we know for sure grow their crops and breed their animals with care and respect. This approach is also applied in our kitchen. Our goal is zero waste both from cooking and from plates. We always prioritise local- and nearby produce and customise our menu by season and availability. Our guests can also buy local and nearby produce from our pantry “Skafferiet” (The Pantry) – the inhouse mini store. 

Already when entering the doors to Garveriet, you will experience the smell of freshly baked bread and freshly-made food. In the centre of the kitchen you will find our pride – a wood-burning oven. At Garveriet, we make it simple to enjoy great food without compromising on sustainability.

The flexible layout allows for big gatherings, break-out sessions and smaller groups. It is perfect for business conferences, family gatherings, lectures or events. Welcome to ”Andra våningen” (The Second Floor).

It is said that curiosity is the key to knowledge. At Garveriet we are curious and enjoy making new discoveries. We are constantly thinking about how we can contribute to sustainable food production both today and in the future.

We don’t claim to have all the answers but we are truly committed to asking the questions and learn more about how we should act in order to make sure that we hand over a healthy earth with clean water to future generations. Everybody can’t do everything but everyone can do something. You are most welcome to join us on the journey towards the future food destination.

About us

Garveriet – an old tannery by the river Säveån, gently renovated and transformed to bakery, restaurant, café, shop, conference halls and more.

The ingredients come from producers within a 20 kilometers radius, and the aim is to become entirely self-sufficient on vegetables and fish, and besides that inspire others to live and eat more sustainably. Stop here for a lunch, a Swedish ”fika” – or learn something new at a ”zero waste” cooking class. Or have a meeting in our conference facilities.
